Adriana Lima: The New Face Of Marc Jacobs Fragrance
The Brazilian beauty whom we best know for being one of Victoria’s Secret’s longest-serving models is the popular face of Marc Jacobs’ well-known fragrance ‘Decadence’.
The 40-year-old mother-of-two is popular for her position as an Angel. And initially, she may appear to be a strange choice for Jacobs as his previous perfume advertisements have centered on the dreamy and whimsical, particularly the Daisy family of scents. However, Decadence is as exotic and refined. Therefore, Adriana Lima appears to be the perfect match for it.
Marc Jacobs’s New Fragrance – ‘Decadence’
According to WWD, the new fragrance is “designed to be over-the-top. Moreover, the seductive shot of Lima in a boudoir setting with lush greens makes it complete in all sense.
Marc Jacobs’s Decadence is an Amber Floral fragrance for ladies. It was first released in 2015. Decadence is a “sensual, opulent, woody scent.” It is created by perfumer Annie Buzantian, featuring top notes of the plum, iris flower, and saffron, a heart of Bulgarian rose, jasmine, and orris. Moreover, it has a base of vetiver, papyrus woods, and liquid amber.
It is his first “mature” fragrance. While Daisy is a charming girl next door, Lola is funny, and Decadence is sensual and elegant. Also, each of his pillar scents reflects a distinct character.
The design
The bottle design is reminiscent of an emerald green purse with a python pattern. Additionally, it includes a gold chain and black tassel. It is the designer’s “personal talisman” as a symbol of luxury and beauty. Adriana Lima is the face of the campaign and Steven Meisel is the one who shot it.
Adriana Lima as the face of Decadence
As Jacobs’s new scent shifts from a light, floral Daisy line to a more exotic feel, we can see why Adriana is a perfect choice to be its face.
Lima celebrated her association with the brand by attending the Met Gala with Jacobs. There she looked stunning in the designer’s collection. She wore a deep crimson, floor-length gown with a plunging neckline. This was further accentuated by a sheer black panel studded with crystals. Additionally, she wrote on her Instagram about her joining hands with Jacobs for his new fragrance line. Not to mention, it was one of her most celebrated collaborations, which she made a huge success.
Now, who is Adriana Lima?
Adriana Lima is a Brazilian model and actress. She rose to prominence as a Victoria’s Secret Angel between 1999 and 2018. Adriana has worked for strong international fashion and beauty brands. These big names include Maybelline, Donna Karan, Armani, Versace, Louis Vuitton, and Desigual. Most importantly, she’s been one of the lead models for lingerie giant Victoria’s Secret. She became an Angel in 2000. Moreover, Adriana was named “the most valuable Victoria’s Secret Angel” after being the longest-running model.
Adriana’s profitable career began at the age of 15 when she won Ford’s Supermodel of Brazil model competition. After that, she competed in the Ford Supermodel of the World pageant in 1996, placing second. Then she left Brazil three years later for the bright lights of New York. There she quickly signed with Elite Model Management and landed significant catwalk jobs. Adriana worked with Vera Wang, Giorgio Armani, and Valentino, as well as Vogue and Marie Claire cover placements. They say the rest is history…
The deal is just one of several lucrative contracts for the model. Moreover, Forbes named her the second-highest-paid supermodel in the world with earnings of US$8 million.
Why Adriana Lima?
No doubt, Adriana is extremely talented to represent Marc Jacobs’s new fragrance line. However, what is it about her that makes Adriana a perfect face for Decadence?
Lori Singer, group vice president of global marketing at Coty Inc, told WWD, “It’s about a decent lady planning to be decadent.” “It is of exceptional quality, sumptuous, stylish, and sophisticated. Daisy is a more laid-back, whimsical, and naive character. Meanwhile, this fragrance will add to the sophistication of Marc Jacobs’ whole fragrance collection.”
Well, Jacobs’s new perfume is all about reflecting one’s more opulent side. Adriana’s image and personality complement this idea perfectly. Hence, we can say that there wouldn’t have been a better choice for the brand to go with.
