Dior’s Fall/Winter 2021 Runway Smokey Eye Makeup 

While beauty trends come and go, the blazing, smokey eye has remained popular for decades.

With its smokey eye makeup, Dior Beauty is bringing back the glory of the early 2000s. In its recent Fall/Winter 2021 Fashion Show, Dior took us all into the stories of dark fairytales.

At Versailles’ famed Hall of Mirrors, its creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri led the exhibition.

It explored the dark side of classic fairy tales like “Beauty and the Beast,” “Cinderella,” and “Sleeping Beauty.”

Peter Philips, Dior Make-Up’s creative and image director, gave a mesmerizing touch to the edgy yet chic design.

In a recent piece quoted by Elle magazine, Philips talked about it extensively. The inspiration basically was easing the classic smokey eye makeup trend.

It was about the connection between one and how they portray themselves. According to him, the motive was to highlight the relationship between women themselves. The reason they went for dark eyes for the girls and nude lips for the dancers was to really define the difference. It was to show that visually, there were different worlds.

The theme of the Fall/Winter 2021 Fashion Show

Maria Grazia Chiuri unveiled the fall film Disturbing Beauty, a kind of frightening fairytale. It reinterpreted the young female heroes we grew up watching. The major theme was to showcase a rather edgy side of these soft characters. Thus, the show presented them with a grittier attitude to explore the evil side. While the clothing represented each of these concepts well, there was one common thread above the neck. It was a rebellious smokey eye in a sooty black finish.

The French luxury brand was creating a buzz around the fashion show ahead of the Fall/Winter 2021 presentation. It even teased its 6.9 million Instagram followers with a sneak peek of the much-anticipated event.

This also aids in the definition of the lower lash line. Philips added that they didn’t use mascara on the lashes because they didn’t want them to look “too seductive.”
